Phoenix Tree is built around and on top of an extraordinary old oak tree that’s been growing here for longer than anyone can say. Straw bale walls and a skylight open straight to the night sky.
A steel ladder takes you up to the mezzanine king bed, with the best view on the land. Solar lighting only, no mains power up here, just the kind of quiet that makes you remember what quiet actually sounds like. Access is via a steel ladder, so it’s worth knowing in advance if that’s not right for you.
Why Most Guests Never Leave
Guests describe Phoenix Tree as dropping out of a fairytale. The hot tub under the stars gets called magic more than any other word, and it’s not hard to see why, lying back in hot water with the brook running underneath and an old oak overhead does something to people.
One guest told us it was the best night’s sleep of their lives. We hear that a lot.
Things to know
All of our accommodation is off-grid so be prepared for a ‘back-to-basics’ experience with no mains electricity. The lighting is solar powered, and we have no Wi-Fi.
The kitchen is well equipped allowing you to wine and dine yourselves including a double gas ring for cooking. We provide some of the basics which include tea, coffee and oil and there is also an outdoor BBQ area. But do come prepared as the nearest shops are 10 minutes drive away.
We will provide a basket of wood for the fire and some natural fire lighters to ensure you stay warm but please do pack for cold weather to ensure you get the most from your nights under canvas.
